Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s latest release Katamarayudu has opened to phenomenal reception from fans across the world. The film is said to have earned more than Rs 30 crore on its second day.
When Sardar Gabbar Singh became damp squib at the box office last year, expectations for Katamrayudu rose to mammoth proportions. With the film in theatres, it’s safe to say that Pawan Kalyan is finally back in style, as Katamarayudu has opened to overwhelming response across the world.
On its opening day, the Pawan Kalyan-starrer has raked in a whopping Rs 55 crore, surpassing the numbers of his brother and megastar Chiranjeevi‘s Khaidi No 150, which reportedly earned Rs 47 crore on its first day. Katamarayudu witnessed 95 per cent occupancy in theatres on Saturday. As per trade figures, the film has reportedly minted Rs 30 crore on its second day. Going by the unprecedented craze, Katamarayudu is likely to gross Rs 100-crore mark in the coming days. It may be noted that Katamarayudu has already earned Rs 100 crore through its satellite and distribution rights.
Released across 1,500 screens, Katamarayudu has made a business of Rs 4.4 crore on its opening day in America.
Directed by Dolly, the film is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Veeram, which starred Ajith Kumar in the lead.
Katamarayudu also features Shruti Haasan, Siva Balaji, Ajay, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna in important roles.
Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan are teaming up for the second time after the commercial success of Gabbar Singh. Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan and brother Chiranjeevi are coming together for an upcoming Telugu film, which will be directed by Trivikram Srinivas.
